I'm Here!!!

Davis Michael Cieszko joined us at 59 minutes after midnight on March 21, 2008...Good Friday. He weighed 9 pounds even and was 20 and a quarter inches long. How blessed we are! It was a long labor, and a tough delivery for all three of us, but we are all ok now. Davis needed a little help coming out so a vacuum-assisted delivery helped things along, and the only things he had to show for the tough ride was a small swollen area on his scalp (which is now resolved), and a broken left clavicle ("collar bone"), which is a very common injury during the birth of larger babies; these both heal without problems and Davis isn't bothered by either in the least. Davis is a very happy baby and he's feeding well. He "christened" his first tub bath with a poopie no sooner than I could get him comfy in the hammock swing that supports him while in the tub. The first couple of nights he was a little mixed up with days/nights but since then, we've been fortunate, and he sleeps for 3-4 hours at the time during the night. I never knew how valuable just 2-3 hours of sleep can be. Chris has been ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. He helps with everything, and it's so amazing to see him hold Davis and bond with him; it's a side of Chris I've never seen before...and I love it!

We've had lots of visitors, lots of FOOD brought to us, and lots of hugs and kisses for Davis. We want to thank everyone! We are so appreciative!

We want to thank everyone who has been there for us and all of those who are thinking of us from far away. We also realize that everyone's everyday lives/routine continue, despite the fact that ours has been pleasantly turned upside down, and with that said, we are appreciative of just the thought of our special addition.

Finally, a prayer for the gift of Davis Michael Cieszko...

Dear God, We thank You for the gift of this child to raise, this life to share, this mind to help mold, this body to nurture, and this spirit to enrich. Let us never betray this child's trust, dampen this child's hope, or discourage this child's dreams. Help us, dear God, to help this precious child become all You mean him to be. Let your grace and love fall on him like gentle breezes and give him inner strength and peace and patience for the journey ahead.
