In complete disbelief, Davis is 2 days shy of being a month old. The last 4 weeks have FLOWN by to our amazement. We are enjoying Davis, and each and every day, he develops a little more personality, stays awake a little longer during feedings, and we're hoping soon, that those mysterious "smiles" will be just that...a smile in response to him recognizing our faces or our voices (that being opposed to us being unsure if he might just have a little gas...). Chris, myself, Davis, and Grandma Judy packed up the car today and drove to Cary, NC to get his first portraits made. He was SO GOOD! To the photographer's expectation of a newborn, he peed on one of the drapes during a photo, and in an interesting position for one of his pictures with Chris holding him against his chest, he pooped on Chris! It was great fun! We laughed--that's all you can do when you photograph a newborn in his BIRTHDAY SUIT--who'd expect a newborn to let us know when he has to potty! We should have some pictures back soon, and hopefully we'll be able to share those with you.
Davis has taken a bottle (we introduced this to give me some time to rest and let Daddy feed him). I am, now, having to supplement some with formula as he's quite the eater...taking anywhere from 4.5 to 5.5 ounces with each feeding. That's still going well, despite me having to introduce formula earlier than I had hoped I would. It's nice to have Daddy give him a bottle, as it frees me up for some much needed sleep, relaxation, or to get some things done around the house, or even to slip out for a while to run errands.
We have had lots of visitors, and Davis has spent some time at both sets of grandparents' homes now, and he really took a liking to "sleeping" soundly on Great Grandaddy's belly this past weekend.
We want to thank everyone for their generosity and thoughts. We've been blessed with so much help and best wishes. We cannot tell you how much we truly appreciate everything, and hopefully, we can return the favor again to you all someday.
Stay posted. We will talk again soon! We'll post some snapshots soon!
Alison, Chris, and Davis
