Happy Birthday Daddy! Hansen's Visit

Today, Chris turns 23. Yes, 23. He's getting younger everyday. Nahhh. Chris turns 32 today. Davis and I got Chris a really special gift this year. It is a brick with a carving/engravement that will be put on the Firefighters National Memorial "Walk of Honor" in Maryland. We hope that we can drive through there in the coming months to see it. Here is what the brick will sort of resemble. I am so happy and proud of my husband. Davis is so proud of his father!

We really kept it low key for Chris's birthday. Our friends Wally and Leah and their son Parker, travelled from Jacksonville to spend the day with us. We had a great time. Parker is so, so smart. He knows just about every animal any of us as adults would, and what kind of sound they make, even the sound a fish makes...yeah, go ahead...you'll have to think on that one, but Parker KNOWS what sounds fish make, and it's PERFECT! He has a vocabulary a mile long and is only 16 months old. We enjoyed a very fun afternoon. Parker rode on the back of my bicycle with me, and we played in the yard after we got back from lunch and shopping for a little while.

Parker doesn't know it, but he was our "practice run" for childproofing. We hurriedly went to Lowes this morning to get baby gates, outlet covers, and cabinet securers, and installed as many as we could, not to "keep Parker out", but rather, to help discover what we need to be doing more. I mean, what better way to figure things out with this than to let a 16 month old "have at it." Parker, however, is a very good boy, and he really didn't get into anything while he was here. I would say that we childproofed really well, but I think it's more accurate to say that Leah and Wally have parented really well.

We loved seeing you guys and gal, and we can't wait to get down to Jacksonville sometime to visit.

We had a wonderful time!!! You are so sweet with your thoughts on Parker. We appreciate all you did for us. We hope to see you again soon! Your sweet Davis is just scrumptious. I still can't get over those cheeks.
