Nine Months Flew By

Davis is now 9 months old today. He has approached lots of the developmental milestones in the last several weeks, and they're all kind of happening quickly now. As is the case with any other parent you talk to, our story is no different. The first 9 months went by as a blur. There were times when I thought making it through another day would be impossible (and that was probably sleep deprivation talking), but here we are today, none of us with major bumps or bruises, and are as happy as we could possibly be. We have tried to spend more and more time together as a family. We can really tell that Davis is learning sign language (we think his new daycare teacher has really encouraged it) and he's close to follow anything that we say, though it may not sound like real words. We think he claps during feeding time to tell us "more", but he hasn't figured out how to do the "all done" sign, rather it's more of just a "whine" as if to say QUIT SHOVING THAT FOOD IN MY MOUTH! We are seeing him "scoot" around on the floor, and he gets annoyed if he can't get to a standing position to see what everyone else can. He almost "GLOATS" once he's standing. It's really funny. We expect, that soon, he'll be crawling FORWARD (not backwards as he is now), and eventually, he'll learn to pull himself up to a standing position. God help us. He has just started reaching for me or Chris when he wants to be picked up or helped to a standing position, and I think that's the sweetest thing EVER. I have been waiting for him to hold his arms out for me for 9 long months, and he's finally doing it, and it makes me feel like such a special "part" of him...it's like finally a gesture of love that I understand/recognize. I reserve the right to take these words back at any point...He He He!

Here are Davis's 9 month pictures...right to the day. Sorry for the mis-matched outfit. The day started off warm, but got cooler...hence the hat and mittens.
